Artistic Flair Crafts – coupon code for YOU!

I got a lovely email from a new UK company called Artistic Flair Crafts.  They offered me a coupon code to try out a few products.  It was the perfect excuse to drag out my Gelli plate, as some of their main products are stencils!  I do love a good stencil.

I selected a range of them – 4×4 inch ones

6×6 inch ones – and yes, either by me clicking wrong or by a glitch in the ordering (combined with me not double-checking) I ended up with two of the same design!  DOH!

and A4 sized ones. And something they call TABS.  Loving them and wish I had more time to perfect the use of them.

I tried scraping the pain thru the stencil, but was a bit careless cause I was rushing.  And scraping thru, without a bit of light adhesive to keep the stencil in place, was a bit silly.    I know they will be fab with sprays or sponging thru them, for art journal pages or layouts.

Another unique item is the cake topper stencil.  I got small cupcake ones but they have a nice range of bigger ones (8 inches) too. And cake SIDE stencils are Coming Soon.

So cute.  Obviously I don’t make cakes, but with a little surgery I converted one of these for Gelli plate use:

I think they would work nicely with the round plate  – I like the fact that the stencil is designed as a circle, radiating out from the centre, so the effect is not just a regular stencil in a circle. IYKWIM.

I only had a few minutes to play, so my samples are not hugely inspiring but everything is still all out all over my desk so I may try to find a bit more time and carry on.  It was fun!

They also have a range of cute little wooden shapes, if stencils aren’t your thing. Aren’t these adorable?

Most importantly, here is a code you can use at checkout to get 20% off for yourselves!

Zodiac signs for book folding

I always wish I could track it when I get multiple requests for the same thing.  It doesn’t happen very often, outside of Can I get LOVE in time for Valentine’s day? but when it does I wonder why?

I’ve had both comments and emails recently asking about star signs.  I have to admit other than knowing my sign (cause who doesn’t at least know THAT?) I am pretty clueless about horoscope and star signs.  When I got the first request, I thought they were asking about the more pictographic images.

which I thought was probably a bit ambitious unless done as a cut&fold. Maybe even ambitious in that form!

But I had another look and found the simple star signs, so I made a set of those:

zodiac

There are alternating folds for virtually all of them, but nothing that would be overwhelming.  Folding them, then adding a ribbon to hold the book at the right degree of open-ness, and maybe adding the star sign name in cut letters might make a nice gift.  Something a bit like the way I did the photos on this:

That is a cut&fold, obviously, but the idea is the same.

The PDF is 12 pages and has all the star signs. You can download it here.  Just select the page to print.

I have a cut&fold I am dying to make for a friend – can you tell who it is?

Question Marks for book folding

<sigh>  I feel terrible.  A commenter, Alister, asked before Christmas, for question marks.  I was super busy that week and was so sure I had added these that I told him there were ??s in the top menu.

DOH! That was it a alternate fact.

I am adding them now, and updating the top menu.  I’ve done a number of interesting ?s that I think will work out Two to a page so the counting lines won’t be helpful, but they are not going to be hard (most won’t anyway) to count even so.

Not sure about the last one.  I think I might cut it, then lop off the top of the paper, so it looks upright.   It’s the font, as it comes.  What do you think?

You can download the PDF here

Half-sheet calendar

This should have made it up last month, but we’ve been busy.

I loved the quote and have been looking for just the right thing and I think this technological sort of graphic is just right.

The front and back cover.

hgwellscover

and the monthly sheets:

hgwells_quote_calendar2017

Print all the pages then slice them down the middle.  The individual sheets are cropped to the edge of the image – that way, not matter what size sheet of paper you tell your printer to print on, the image will be placed in the middle, and can be cut in half easily.

You can grab that download here.

And here is a smaller size to download, printing at just about 5 3/4 x 4 inches

Enjoy.
