A little housekeeping….

16 Comments

As you can see I have switched themes for my blog and made a new header.  Actually I made a couple of them, and now I am just trying to decide between the one up top now,

and this one:

Care to wade in?

I have also removed the cluttered sidebars, and am in the process of organizing them in the menu drop-downs under the header.  I’ve grouped all the printables in one place, but you can see that the PL stuff, the Christmas stuff, and the “other Freebies” stuff  all have their own page.  I’ve also started using Galleries as a way to keep the pages reasonable – Looking in Other Projects you can see them in action.  They are tricky in some ways  because I can’t quite figure out how to make the individual Gallery photos into links.  Bear with me.  Everything is still here, and hopefully in the end it will all be easier to find!

Am am pleased to have my Gelli Plate stuff organized in menus (finally) and now just need to go back and tag things properly – the best example is that for a long time I tagged my BIG CARDS as CARDS.  When I finally created the BIG CARDS category I didn’t go back and re-tag them.  I will now. It will take AGES, but will be worth it in the end.  I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been looking for something on MY OWN BLOG and had to resort to Google to find it. Shocking.  I guess I might as well collect them all into a menu too….

{sigh}

  1. I liked the 2nd one better also but after seeing the 1st full size on the blog it became a moot point as the visual elements became clear on the larger title. Love all your talent and creativeness. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I like the first header because my eye is drawn first to the image, and then moves on across to the title. It seems more natural to me. I feel that after seeing such a cool pic first, I want to see the blog title and go exploring for more neat stuff! 🙂

  3. I liked the second one – until I saw the top one full size on the page 😦
    Thank you for your blog – gives me a little boost and push to be more creative 🙂

    • Funny, Isn’t it? I think the large size and better resolution makes a big difference! I felt the same – looking at the 2nd one bigger on my monitor, I liked it lot better. But in the smaller size, not so much!

  4. This doesn’t give me mush encouragement to start a blog. I vote for the second example for your header.

  5. Looks great – I love a neat and tidy looking blog – easier on the eye. Means you can concentrate and find the fab content – love your work though often marvel at how you find the time. X…I think I like the 1st image though I am not sure why.

  8. I’m drawn to the second one. The ‘ess’ in the title seems to get lost in the design. Either way, I like your new header. Want to tell you how much I enjoy and appreciate your blog, your talent and your sharing. Thanks. Dorothy

  12. The first one is better because eye is drawn to the rectangular area and then across the title. In the second one the eye is still drawn to the rectangular area but might miss the title completely because you would have to move left to right to read it.

    • How funny. You see, I think that with the 2nd one your eye focuses on the bold title, then you follow along that to see the smaller image!
      This should be interesting…..
