WOYWW 632 – a few things…

Well Happy WOYWW hoppers! My week has been crazy and my crafting has been a bit all over the place. Let’s see how my desk looked on Tuesday, shall we?

I am a week behind sharing my cards (kinda like the 100 days thing – I never want to be stuck on a Sunday having to make stuff to add that day IYKWIM) and as I abandoned the A DAY part of the process, so long as I am making 7 cards to share on the weekends, I’m happy. Or in this case, a set of cards. Planning on sharing the little box (from a single sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock) tomorrow but the set looks like this:

All of them made from the scraps of a single card and the printed sentiments to match the banner die. I love this particular font and the black background on white card works perfectly. So the tidy shot, where I begin today:

Finally took the plunge and grabbed this book. It’s full of goodness but often takes me a while to work out the actual folds. The sample is a Diagonal Pocket Fold and not in this book, but I am dying to make a project out of it. The little dies and the cover die are from Amazon and were pretty cheap. I think the little ones will be more useful but the art deco one may be fun to play with.

And now my little whinge – I only seem to have 300gsm white card at the moment, and Hobbycraft reminded me I had a voucher that was about to expire. So I popped on to grab some lighter card. Two Hobbycraft cardstock packs, both labelled WHITE. One is very much white while the other is very much CREAM:

I mean, c’mon…. Grrr….

Almost forgot! MBD, happily I can use all 4 cards this week!

Happy WOYWW friends!

  2. I love the cards and box – what a lovely set that makes. I have that same book, it’s fabulous and a great source of inspiration. The dies are very pretty and I would defintiely get more use out of the little one but would probably not have been able to resist the poppy seed heads one either!

  4. Lots of goodies on your desk Mary Anne and I can see you’ve been very busy. The top photo of cards had me oohing and aahing.
    Have a lovely week

  5. They’re having a laugh calling that card white! How annoying, I hope you can exchange or find a use for it. That Fold book looks amazing, I bet you’ll get loads of inspiration from it, i always think that paper engineering is very satisfying!
    Hugs LLJ 12 xx

  6. I agree it’s not always feasible or practical to do a “project” a day – especially if they are a series like your cards. I mean you don’t want to get out the same supplies and do them individually. Perhaps an advent project is the only exception, because that’s counting down the days, but even then there could be days when you simply don’t have the time! Love the little cards with the matching envelopes and the box. All those dies look useful to me and I love a good craft book – I have to restrict myself though, otherwise I would buy all of them! Have a happy week, Mary Anne! xx zsuzsa #24

  7. Well,if it takes you a while to get your head around the folds…..! I like a boxed set of cards, they make such a good hostess gift etc, and I had to read twice about the text being reversed out of the black! Will call in tomoz to see the card box!

  8. I am so looking forward to seeing some folded cards – love anything that has unusual folds. So often i give up on these cards because I just can’t work out the folded bits – but you are younger than me and should cope better.
Love the little boxes you made – love the colourways.
If I manage woyww and my Thursday journal I am happy – nice when I make a card or two as well though.
    Hugs, Neet 5 xx

  9. I hate that…some people really need to go to speck savers when it comes to seeing ‘white’ loveng the man eats dog thingy. Love the cards…I will, one day, make something not cute bute crafty instead! There, it’s in print so I have to now! Stay Safe, have fun! keep on crafting! Happy WWOYWW!? 10. One of the reasons I don’t shop at Hobbycraft, you can’t trust the labels. You can always paint the cream sheets!!
Love that art deco die. I followed one of your links but found Ali Express very confusing.
Love all those cards, bright and cheerful
    Have a good week

  11. That’s a great set of cards. Get in touch with customer service about the card. I am sure they will send out the correct item, plus give you a returns label. I quite liked the idea of blizzard books till I realised how long the paper had to be for the size I wanted. Happy WOYWW Angela #3

  12. Happy WOYWW. I absolutely love your little box and set of cards. There are definitely a lot of different shades of white! A lot of my crafty friends do buy the cheap dies from AliExpress etc, and report the quality is good. I don’t buy many dies (I have my Silhouette Cameo), but did buy a stamp set from there once and was sad to find out that it was copied from a designer. Ali x #14

  13. I guess that’a the nature of paper but sometimes I like something not quite so bright but it is difficult knowing just how white card will be when you buy on line. Loving your desk and the projects. I will pop back later as I can see something interesting on the post below but for now. Have a lovely woyww. Hugs, Angela x16x

  14. I quite like the off white look, always saves me staining it. Frustrating when you are after a pure white though. Love the look of that book a new one to me, i’m sure you will have lots of fun with it. Yes sadly there are many many rip off dies around from the originals, a big downfall for companies who have their designs produced overseas to cut down the production cost. Beautiful dies though.

  15. I also see the difference and believe one is mislabeled and should be cream. I’m in awe of all those cards you made from one sheet of scrapbook paper. I think the DA should have shot the cop (tee hee). Happy WOYWW from # 6.

  16. Morning Mary Anne! Love your set of cards, so simple but striking. I’m sure you will have fun with your book. Don’t get me started on white card stock – how many shades can there be!! And I HATE cream cardstock. Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs Cindy xx #8

  17. Unfortunately the large die on the right is a rip off of a Clarity Fresh cut die called Funky Foliage Mary Anne – the original is blue coated. I do like your set of cards and you are right about the white lettering against the black. One of those sets of card definitely looks cream to me too. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

    • Is it?! I did a post last week about discovering Chinese rip offs of Stampin Up sets on Amazon but I’ve not bought any Clarity stuff … ever I don’t think! So didn’t twig that it was. Wonder if they know? Thanks for letting me know. Wish is could comment on your blog but I will say how much I love your sketches week after week. So wonderfully done! Happy Woyww!

  18. Morning, Mary Anne! that is some stretch calling that card white!! I hope you find a use for it. Happy folding, too!! Have a good day.. Helen#2
