WOYWW 622 – what a crazy week!

Happy WOYWW y’all! I can’t even really say WHY it has been busy but it has. Just a whole series of run-of-the-mill family stuff, an extra busy time for the Hubster in his job, some housekeeping over on UKScrappers that has needed action, but more importantly thought. Pluse I have at least three larger projects on the go, none of which are going as smoothly as they should, again for various but not specific reasons. Maybe the 100 Days project is occupying too much mental and artistic real estate in my head, I don’t know.

So interesting “desk” this week. My desk Tuesday lunchtime was chaotic, with one of the projects, that long, tall, double accordion mini-book you saw Monday strewn about.

You may not be able to tell but I am working on the covers – that thing kinda at the back is the book, collapsed and clamped. But while my desk was in that state, I still wanted to make a folder for my ATC – a different style one, so I had to work on one corner of the desk next to where my computer is. The space is about 18″ square. Sheesh.

So then I tidied up and now you can see the book, collapsed and clamped, and what of the stuff on the desk that was the cover items!

One “desk” that I don’t usually share, cause it in basically a box on top of am open book shelf that I use as a table, has one of the projects on hold. Long time WOYWWers might recall my Card Balls. I have has one in the window of the snug pretty much since we moved in. It has faded in weird ways – all the card FACES are basically white, while the card BACKS (a specialty deck) look great. You can see how good it looked in 2013 LOL!

Anyway, my hope is to disassemble, spray with gloss spray, maybe stamp some and assemble it again. I just don’t have a clear vision for what I want it to look like in the end. So I am pondering a bit longer on it.

I have my IVIG on the 17, 18th and 20th (how handy, missing out the WOYWW 12th, which is also the Hubster’s 2nd jab day) so no idea how I will be doing that week – I usually come home wrecked, with a massive headache. Might not be at my best for desk-hopping but I will do the best I can, and will def. be looking for my swap partner! I am still going strong on the 100 days but worried that week may eat up all my (actually, I believe it is only four) advance spreads. For the last couple of weeks it may be making the spread on the day – that might be too challenging so I will hope I get to my desk every day, headache-y and tired or not. Here is the week’s recap!

Hum. Wander on the last page is hard to read in the photo. Oh well. I still quite like all of these (maybe day 72 not so much) and am again getting a little more experimental. The book is still flat – I might talk about that a bit on the weekend, and grab a photo comparing this book to the first book.

OK, that is enough blathering! I’ll be popping around to your desk for a peek very soon. Happy WOYWW!

  1. Trying to catch up on commenting – it is already Friday! The problem is because we are 9 hours in front I can’t manage it on Wednesday and then the time just flies!
Your desk looks very busy! I have just been to see the accordion and the Spiky Baby. I may well have to make a spiky baby!
    Happy WOYWW!

  2. Thank you for your return visit, Mary Anne, and for your encouraging words. I saw the nurse at the surgery this afternoon and she’s referring me on to the breast unit at the hospital and tells me I should get an appointment within a fortnight, which is good. Sorry you’ve had to go through this too but very glad to hear that the outcome was negative! I smiled at the Enchanted Broccoli Forest – sounds just the sort of title you’d expect from 1960s hippie California haha!!

  3. Wow, you are busy! The card ball is fabulous, and I love the project – you are doing a great job keeping it going. I particulary like the folded pocket on your last page with the rivet effect.
Hope you have a good week,
    Diana xx #24

  4. Shees, I get tired just READING about everything you do and have to do… don’t stress out dear! I LOVE the collage pages, just beautiful and so inspiring! Makes me wanna grab my box of ‘paperscraps’ and start collageing too! Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day, hug from Holland! Marit #28

  5. Fingers crossed for your treatment and the after effects to not be at all bad this time. Thinking of you.
The card ball reminds me of those geo-thingies that you make from circles of card (cannot think what it is called) – it will be good to see you take it to its next stage.
I hope we are going to get to see the book in full glory when you have got the covers on and all is unclamped. Please.
Well, good luck with the treatment
    Hugs, Neet 7 xx

  6. The card ball is both fascinating and unusual. I hope the IVIG doesn’t make you feel too poorly. Happy WOYWW Angela #23

  7. So many lovely things on you desk. I did 100 days last year but knew I had too much going on this year! I love these journal collages. Hugs, Chris #32

  8. Love the card ball and looking forward to seeing the restoration work on it. Hope you don’t feel many bad after effects from your treatment. Ani. #26

  9. It does sound as if you’ve been mega-busy lately, Mary Anne. Sorry to hear that your treatment knocks you out so badly. I know what that can be like… The playing card ball is amazing – never seen anything like that before! What an intriguing idea. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like with your unique style added!

    Happy WOYWW,

  11. My favourites this week are 70 and 75 because of the colours. I hope you can do some extras so that you can keep up when you are out of action – you’ve done amazingly well to keep going this long! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

  12. Wow, you have so much going on! I love seeing a few clamps being used in anger, the book is going to be great. You have a lot on for the WOYWW anniversary, keep yourself well first and foremost! The card ball is fun, hope your remedial work goes well!!

  13. Well done on keeping up with your 100 days pages – such a lovely idea. Good luck with your treatments. xx Jo

  14. Hi Mary Anne. Wow! What a lot you are doing – all at the same time!!! I hadn’t realized (‘cos of being AWOL) that you are so near now to your 100 days. That’s amazing – it does seem to have gone awfully fast… but then, maybe that’s just my age speaking. I’m echoing Sarah, and saying that I trust the treatment goes well, and that you feel good after it.
    Take care. God bless.
    Margaret #2

  15. Hope you manage to keep up. its always hard when you know you have a lot to do, hope you feel okay after your treatment,

    Take care and stay safe,

  16. Loving your latest pages. I really hope that your treatment isn’t too bad this time round and you are able to join in with the swap. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#9)

  17. The card ball is fascinating! Have you thought of gelli printing it and assembling it again – I think that would look really nice. I know what you mean about being busy with no apparent reason – it felt like I was very busy in the last two weeks but if I had to account for my time, I’m not sure I could! Good going with the 100-day project – since you’re not following the official timeline (and even if you were), you could just take a breather one week and pick it up when you can – it will still be a 100-day project with 100 pages done! That’s how I look at it anyway. Once I didn’t finish my advent journal until New Year’s Day! Nobody will call you out on it LOL! Hope it goes well with your IVIG (though I had to look it up as I wasn’t sure what it was) – take it easy – I wouldn’t worry about anything else in that situation – your well-being takes precedence. Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #20

  18. Your work area looks way more interesting than mine today. I do hope there is no headaches this time. Have a lovey creative woyww, Angela x19x

  19. Just love that card ball, interested to see how and what you do with it.
I love your pages and you’re seriously getting me so interested that I think I could use up my ‘snippets’ in this way………

  20. Happy WOYWW. So much wonderful creativity to look at in your post. Just had a quick look at how to make an ATC folder, and definitely will be making some of those. Thank you for sharing. You definitely have a lot of projects to complete. Apart from the Zoom workshops I have signed up for, I am not doing any challenges/projects etc at all this year. Needed to take the pressure off myself. Concentrating on my health, with healthy cooking and some new movement/mindfulness groups. The card ball looks complicated. Look forward to seeing its transformation. Keep well. Ali x #15

  21. Oh man, that cover for the zig zag book is just lovely, it’s a whole thing of lovely! The card ball is astonishing, who knew that laminated playing cards would fade to clean like that. I think when you hit in a style or theme, it will be marvellous, it’s done pretty well for its age hasnt it really…must be very robust in its cellular form. Gosh, your hospital days have fallen conveniently, although the side effects sound horrible, I know you’ll wan to look for your swap partner but after that, I think back to the big chair of nothing doing would be a good plan!

  22. Oh my giddy aunt, there’s just too much yummy stuff on much your post! Cards are great, I made somethink like that well it was a kinda curcle out of straws held together with string threadled through. And you have sooo many projects on the go. I’d get them muddled up, I’m kinda leaning to #76 as my fave this week but thinking, there sould be a trombon in there somewhere. (my dad’s friend used to play in a brass band, and they always finished with that song. Stay safe. Have a Happy crafty week and WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #6

  23. Didn’t realise you made some of you 100 day projects ahead… good planning! hope you don’t feel too awful the week of the swap for WOYWW Helen #4

  24. Hope you do manage to keep up with all the projects Mary Anne and that the headaches aren’t too bad after your treatments. I have never seen a card ball before so I am intigued. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
