Happy WOYWW to all – and creeping closer to the final days of 2020. They cannot come soon enough for me.
I finished an art journal page that I quite like. It is what is on my desk today:
Yes, careful watchers will note that I now own a set of Janet Klein images. I have commented for many weeks on WOYWW how tempted I have been by them. Mostly I have seen the little people with flower eyes, which I like well enough, but when I saw these, I just couldn’t resist.
Ignore the rubbish stamping – it was more for demonstration purposes than for use in the final page above! I almost passed them by, because of the head-toppers. I have been wanting images that will work as collage-y figures in my art journal but oh my, that fruit bowl! Anyway, once I got them in my hands, a little knife work and they were transformed. I ended up using them exactly as I intended when they fell into my basket.
A few posts back I mentioned I was on a mission to find supplies that could be used in different ways, to make standard issue items more unique to me. There are three things on that page that have been altered or used in a different way. I wonder if you can spot them all? I have a few step-by-step sort of photos to take but I will be sharing probably tomorrow.
Hope you all had the best socially-distanced Christmas that you could – we are still working our way thru family Zooms, cause if Thanksgiving taught us anything it was that massive multi-houshold Zooms are rarely satisfying. I prefer smaller groups, so that means many more Zooms!
I have not made it thru the list from last week, as of today as I type, but expect to do so by the time WOYWW posts tomorrow. Here are a few more can’t comment links that I like to add to let people know that I visit even if I can’t leave a comment to prove it! ~Stacey had a great idea for using monogram letters as gift tags! I will totally do this next year. Dorlene is another who often posts scrapbook layouts that I love seeing and can never say so.
See you in 2021!!

Oh I love what you’ve done with those stamps!! It’s making me look at a couple of mine a different way, but you do have to be brave – they cost so much!! I haven’t seen these ladies before, I like quirky figures but the little girls didn’t really call to me. These are another matter though!! You were right about the muscle memory – I have moved my waste bin under the table about six inches to the right – just can’t find it now without actually looking!! Heaven knows what I’ll be like by the time I finish. Sorry I’m so late – you know, life and stuff! Stay well, stay safe, Cindy #15

Your pages are amazing! I love those stamps but I am sticking to my “no buying” rule for 2021. You are so very creative! I love coming here to see what you are up to! I apologize for the late post. I have had a few computer issues! Take care!

Hi Mary Anne, I love what you have done with the images. I have seen many stamps that I almost liked – it never occurred to me to buy them and adapt them! Something for me to consider in the future. I will be starting my very first journal in the New Year – I really have no idea if it will be an art journal, or something else – time will tell – but the plan is for me to stick with it (that will be a first). I have been inspired by all the WOYWWers that have journals. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #30

I see what you mean about the stamps – I like how you simplified them – yeah, who needs a fruit bowl on their head LOL? Still. there might be some accessions when you want to use them like that. I sometimes cut the wings off my angel die-cuts so it just makes a female figure – a lot more versatile that way! Happy 2021 Marianne! Glad you rejoined the tribe! xx zsuzsa #24

Your journal pages are great. I prefer them without the bowl of fruit too. Love the calendar in your previous post, will have to download it when I am on the laptop. I always comment on my IPad because some of my comments kept going missing. Have a happy and healthy new year Angela #14

Fab LOs, really love the colours and images, they’re great fun! The one with the fruit bowl on her head reminds me of Carmen Miranda, lol!! I can see how the figures appeal to you and I bet you’ll use them all the time. Am so with you about smaller zoom/FaceTime calls and have been doing quite a few of them myself, keeping in touch visually has suddenly become more important.

I was thinking you could use them as book marks with their heads sticking over the top or they might make pockets to tuck some secret thing behind them! Well, I must fly!! Happy New Year! Happy WOYWW!? Happy crafting! AND stay safe

I never thought of using those images in that way – never thought of buying them although I did like them. Now you are tempting me!! Love your journal pages.
Here’s to a better year ahead than the one we have just had. Keep crafting, blogging and stay safe, happy and well.

I’m not a fan of those images particularly, but I do like what you’ve done with them. I had a very socially distanced Christmas, it was just me! I even opened some windows (small ones) to allow air to circulate, lol. very law abiding! Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year.

Ha, those images had your name all over them…even if it required a scalpel to completely MA them! I’m rubbish at guessing, but those wings could very well be sweetie wrappers?! I’m looking forward to crossing into 2021 too, may it bring you greater health, missus.

I have never seen Janet’s images used like that!!! They look soooo different, soooo you.
I love her images, most of mine are digital, and must admit, I have chopped the odd bit off or added an odd bit. Love that page.

I must admit that those Janet Klein figures are indeed very flexible Mary Anne. The journal page is fabulous. We are having a Zoom get together tomorrow but there will only be 6 computers involved if everyone makes it so hopefully it will go well. Stay safe, happy WOYWW and Happy New Year. Sarah #9
