As usual, my desk was a bit of a mess yesterday.
But this is how it began today!
I am attacking my scraps, as I mentioned in the previous post. Here is how it began:
Overflowing. I sorted thru it, setting aside groups of papers, with a simple plan – I started with any bit of cardstock weight paper that was big enough for a card front. I added any smaller bits that “went” with those, including anything like a punched element (one that I may have punched or die cut for a project but ended up not using) or other embellishment that may have found its way into my scrap bin. I laid them all out – this is by no means all of the groupings, but it is what fit in the viewfinder frame:
And here is my scrap bin at the end – not empty by any means, but better.
There are still 20 + cards in that. I tried to use the smallest scraps I could, and as much of them as I could so what was left at the end of each card was small enough that I could feel justified in pitching it in the bin.
I’ll beaver away at them today and share the results. They won’t be award-winning cards, but I hope they will be a good exercise in something-from-nothing!

Unexpected, as he was meant to be moving in to his house for next year on 1 July, but the housemate in charge of the details got it so very wrong that he was left with no place to live for July and had to store his stuff and come home instead. {insert teeth sucking noise here} So much for my relaxing week with no kids and DH busy with work. It’s be laundry and cooking and fighting for access to bandwidth by tomorrow. At least my boy will be home.

Clever you! I have an accordion file that is sorted by color groups, but I neglect to look for crossovers- those that can link the groups. I may have a go at your idea!
I love your desk, desks with windows to look out of I am in love with, can you zoom to the left and right and outside the window next time hee hee, Poor DS-dont you hate when things go wrong and you have to adjust your life around it

As you have a shed load of scraps – why not come and play in the snippets playground, runs from Sunday to Saturday each week – no prizes normally but just linking in your makes using up scraps/snippets ,making new playmate friends and having a play on the swings

Ah the scrappy pile, due to the continuation of crafting it never diminishes, although I have got into a good habit of looking through the scraps first before cutting a new piece of paper. Sorry your week will be disturbed but I bet it will turn out OK though. Happy 4th for tomorrow.

Your desk reminds me of mind when it’s messy. My window sill isn’t piled high tis week, as I have put all my stuff back yet, but it could almost be my desk…but organised! Love all your sorting…I’d get side tracked…Have a really fabulous crafty week!

For a minute, I felt right at home at your desk at the top! Mine looks much the same. I like your idea of making the cards and pre-grouping them as you sort…Might try that as I have more scraps than I know what to do with!

Lol at the desk change in such a short space of time! I like to keep a box of scraps and then make a bundle of cards when I have five mins too. I LOVE sorting stuff out – I would have so enjoyed organising all those different bits and pieces. And the upside is you have the wherewithal to create new cards fairly instantly, excellent!!

A full on ‘before and after’ desk and I see you spread out to a stool. I do that with my dining room chairs. Start off on the table and end up with all 4 chairs full of stuff. Good on you for sorting out your scraps, last time I tried to do that I gave up and binned them all – is that a cardinal sin?

I too have a scrap pile that I work from but it seems that for every piece I take out, I seem to replace it with 2! lol It’s a never ending pile of scrap!
